Self Help Law Center Services Available at YWCA
Beginning Wednesday, November 7th, 2012, a representative from the Court Help Program will be available at the YWCA (220 2nd St. N.) from 6pm until 7pm every Wednesday evening to assist self-represented litigants. The Court Help Program can assist in many different areas including Dissolution of Marriage (Divorce), Parenting Plans (Custody), Consumer Credit, Guardianship of a Minor, Step-Parent Adoption, Landlord Tenant Issues, Name Changes and more. Services offered include answering general questions about how the court works, explaining how to find state laws and regulations and reviewing forms for errors like missing signatures or pages.
The Court Help Program is not staffed by attorneys and cannot give legal advice, explain judicial decisions, refer to specific lawyers, interpret laws, fill out forms for you or assist in criminal matters. However, the Court Help Program can make appropriate referrals to community resources that may be helpful.
