Abuse has many forms, and domestic violence doesn’t just mean that you are being physically abused. If you would like to speak to an advocate about your situation, we are always here to listen. Contact us anytime by calling (406) 453-1018 or our toll-free number, 1-800-352-7449.

Coming into shelter is a personal decision that a victim of domestic violence must make herself. If you feel your friend or relative is in an abusive situation, encourage her to get to safety and call us, if she is able.

Mercy Home is Cascade County’s only shelter for battered women and children, and one of the only such shelters in the state of Montana to offer around the clock security. Resident advocates are also present 24 hours a day to provide practical and emotional support, while connecting residents to community partners and resources as they work to achieve self-sufficiency. Mercy Home is a warm, comfortable and welcoming space, where women and children live cooperatively and share in household tasks.

Mercy Home offers its residents secure shelter in a confidential location, three meals a day, legal advocacy for victims and their families seeking Orders of Protection, life skills classes on topics such as cooking and resume building, crisis support and referral to licensed counselors, clothing, toiletries and baby items, safety planning, free 911 cell phones, and a variety of other essential services as residents work to rebuild their lives. In addition, the YWCA, in partnership with Mercy Home, offers support group sessions for adult and children victims of domestic and sexual violence. Participation in these groups is open to all members of the community.

Mercy Home staff, advocates, and the YWCA share a common vision of a world free of violence and oppression against all people. Mercy Home works collaboratively with law enforcement, the court system, other area social service agencies and members of our community to raise awareness of domestic violence in our county and to ensure that victims are treated with justice and dignity.

The shelter is supported by state and federal funding, as well as the generous contributions of civic groups, businesses, religious organizations and community members like you. These local contributions allow both the YWCA and Mercy Home to continue their joint mission of empowering women in the community, providing sanctuary and support for victims of family violence, and conducting outreach and education as we look towards a world in which all people enjoy peace, justice, freedom and dignity, starting right here in Great Falls.
